Bulk Handling

The Cebu Bulk Grain Terminal (CBGT) is a P250 million facility located inside the Cebu International Port. It is a joint project between the Cebu Port Authority and OPASCOR and began commercial operations in 2010. The facility primarily handles wheat, soya meal, soya beans, corn and other bulk grain cargoes. The facility is aimed to enhance largely the bulk handling capabilities of the port of Cebu.  The terminal integrates ancillary services such as warehousing and bagging, in addition to arrastre and stevedoring.

The CBGT is equipped with 2 units of 10-Tonner grab clamshells, hoppers, conveyor system, 4 units of automatic bagging machines and 3 units of conical steel silos.  Its conveyor system is designed to operate at a maximum speed of 300 tons per hour corresponding to the flow rate of all hoppers.  The combined bagging speed of all four machines is 100 tons per hour.

On top of that, OPASCOR purchased a Thirty-two million Vacubator in 2014, used to funnel grains from the vessel down to the silo of the Bulk Handling Facility with a maximum speed of 150 MT/hour. The CBGT is capable of storing a total of 7,500 MT of cargoes at any given time.  Its warehouse has the initial capacity of 50,000 bags.
